UK’s NEW ‘National Register of Recruiters’ supported by Government

Not-for-profit body, the Institute of Recruiters (IOR), has launched the UK’s National Register of Recruiters, a free-to-list register of UK recruitment firms, increasing their visibility to employers and candidates by ensuring they appear in more online search results. Agencies are being urged not to miss out on opportunities the register will offer as definitive guide to UK recruiters.

The register will be heavily marketed to job seekers, employers and government as a central point to source recruiting firms that meet their needs. With over 75% of hires being driven by internet activity, the register will boost online visibility and reach to the listed recruitment agencies, as well as providing them with huge added potential to attract new customers and candidates, a powerful addition to their online marketing strategies.

Steve Keeler, Head of Government’s ‘Employment Agencies Standards Inspectorate’ (EAS) said:
“BIS/EAS works with all stakeholders in the recruitment sector to ensure compliance with legal obligations. IOR’s National Register of Recruiters should increase awareness of the statutory requirements for recruiters, which is something we support”.

The proper management and utilisation of social networks is essential for recruiters to succeed. Statistics suggest that Twitter, Facebook and, of course, LinkedIn, are being used on an increasing basis by your industry peers. The question is therefore no longer ‘Should I use social media in recruitment?’ but ‘How should I use social media to Read more

On the IOR LinkedIn group David Palmer started a great discussion and highlighted a point that many may be legitimately thinking. He entitled his post ‘Agency extinction within 2 years unless you do something now’. As I write, his post has had almost 200 comments, some very angry, some very passionate, he really has ‘stirred Read more

I am at my most animated when watching a great game of rugby or watching Ed Balls being interviewed. The first fills me with good feelings about skill, sportsmanship and what can be achieved by a truly motivated team. The second, a display of political points-scoring at a time when we need unity, drives me Read more

Recruitment’s next phase – a cure for cancer

December 23, 2011 3:40 PM written by  Azmat Mohammed · 29 Comments

There are some people in the UK recruitment sector that would like you to believe the way forward is to cause division, pit small recruiters against large, as if there is some kind of battle going on. To try and suggest the size of a company implies the ethics of an individual, or that small Read more

Lots of booze, mince pies and mistle toe? The Top Billers I have worked with hardly ever switch off, they are always thinking about how they can do better, how they can bill more, earn more and outperform more. How will your recruiters spend the break? In-between the festivities perhaps they will save some thinking Read more

The media is full of articles about António Horta-Osório currently taking a temporary break from his role as Chief Executive of Lloyds Banking Group. 18,000 City workers suffered sickness last year. What does this mean for you? How healthy is your business? How healthy is your team? How healthy are you? Businesses have been through Read more

Earlier this month I attended the UK Recruiter End of Year Conference. CV-Library had a good presence there, as the main sponsors, and it was great to be out of the office and speak to people face to face. It was organised as a conference rather than an event so I found I learnt Read more

This time next year will see a new small claims process in place for intellectual property disputes at the Patents County Court. The new small claims process, confirmed by the Government yesterday, will see a limit placed on fixed costs and allow damages of up to £5,000 to be awarded per case. The stated hope Read more

I am a Recruiter

As my first article for the Genius Team Blogs I’d like to give a little perspective to my areas of expertise.  Whilst I do indeed run the National Online Recruitment Awards, and AlljobsUK, this work is informed by being, first and foremost, a recruiter.  I consider the role of a recruiter to be uniquely privileged Read more
